Trees Forever Stewardship Program

Trees Forever Stewardship Program
in Mount Pleasant’s Saunders Park

We just found out something exciting! As part of our Community Visioning process, we worked with an organization called Trees Forever. Trees Forever and the University of Northern Iowa’s Tallgrass Prairie Center host an annual Steward of the Beautiful Land program that includes three virtual classes and one in person seminar where they actually complete a planting project. They are going to do their annual project in Saunders Park in Mount Pleasant! This will coincide with a new trailhead project that the City of Mount Pleasant is starting in the park this summer.

This four-class webinar series explores the importance of native plants and trees in native Iowa ecosystems. Participants will discover how native plants and trees can work for our community to clean our air, water and soil. To learn more anyone interested can check out http://www.treesforever.org/stewards.

If you know of anyone interested in participating in this project, please feel free to share this information.
