Mission and Vision

The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce (MPACC) is a voluntary association of businesses, organizations, and individuals who share the need for an action agency to coordinate their synergistic efforts. Although it is frequently believed to be part of the local government, the MPACC is actually a private, nonprofit corporation.

The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce was organized during October and November of 1939, and articles of incorporation were filed on January 21, 1940. The MPACC is incorporated in the state of Iowa as a nonprofit corporation and files with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C)6 business association.

The purpose of the MPACC is to continually pursue economic development, business prosperity, and an improved quality of life in the Mount Pleasant area by enabling its members to apply their time, talents, and financial support to an effective program of action, and to provide facilities and staff in support of its programs.

The mission of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce is to enhance the quality of life through economic development.

The philosophy of the MPACC is to rely on and encourage volunteer participation; to be proactive and innovative; to be supportive of the free market system; and to grant equal membership and employment opportunity to all qualified persons without regard to age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or physical impairment.

The role of the MPACC is to coordinate the dissemination of information, the development of plans, and the implementation of those plans by its members; to promote the goals and facilitate the work of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance; to develop and provide community leadership; to develop coalitions and other effective means of accomplishing its goals; and to serve as the focal point and advocate for the business interests of the Mt. Pleasant area at local, regional, state and national levels.
